You may have seen her walking through these bricked, plain white walls. But she plays a saxophone that makes her stand out.
Shaniqua Williams, also known as Ms. Williams, one of our school counselors, has a B.A. in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on school counseling, a minor in Leadership Educational Studies, and a certificate in Qualified Mental Health Professional.
Being a counselor was never her first choice. She said she wanted to be a nurse, but things didn’t work out so well. Her second choice was a school counselor. What inspired her to choose to become a school counselor was her own counselor. When she was in high school, Ms. Williams stated that she had a very nice bond with her school counselor.
Ms. Williams plans to stay at Metz as long as she is needed because she feels that it’s a trend to leave early.
Some of Ms. Williams’ goals are to finish school, become a professional counselor, and to travel more.
Ms. Williams has a black labrador dog that is about to be two years old this December!
Things that Ms. Williams stated she likes to do when she has free time is to listen to podcasts or audios, read books, shop and hang out with friends, and spend time with her dog. Ms. Williams said what she likes about her job is that it is never the same every day. She has kids who come in to talk to her and play games with her. Ms. Williams finished that she wants to have a good impact on students.
